Scorpions after Roth left sucked

I love how there's so many washed-up 80s bands that are still trying to release new material. It usually sucks 90% of the time.

I'm sorry <3, just think of it as Heaven & Hell instead of Sabbath. I honestly don't care if it is a different name. I respect both era's I just prefer the later.

ozzy = vocals that just follow the riff.

dio = vocals a hell of a lot more interesting to me.

I respect your opinions on the Sabbath matter. I just can't stand Dio and Ozzy is hilarious because in 1976 he travelled with a briefcase full of cocaine hand-cuffed to his wrist. That makes him infinitely awesome, haha.

MarkFuckingRichards said:I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks Black Sabbath only existed with Ozzy. I'm not saying Dio sucks (even though I can't stand him, I know he's a good vocalist), but you cannot expect Black Sabbath to BE Black Sabbath with anyone but Ozzy. They just changed their sound completely; even if Ozzy was on the later stuff, it would not be Black Sabbath. If they just changed the name like they recently kind of did, I wouldn't be so pissy about this. They're my favorite band of all time, so I feel the need to be a bitch, haha.

you absolutely right markmotherfuckingrichards !! ... after the Ozzy years , as a band, Black Sabbath's music writing became unimaginitive ... not discrediting their skills because they are all incredible musicians but they should have just became Dio's band because he became the key component where as Black Sabbath with Ozzy was the complete band ... they were light years ahead of their time !!! ... they too are my all time fav and i listen to them every fucking day

Ozzy = was 1/4 of the band

Dio = most powerful part of the band

I know what you're getting at but I disagree because I'm not into most of DIO (the band itself), I much prefer him with the music of Sabbath/H&H.

Porstmouth, NH ey? The only things I know from Portsmouth are steers and queers, and Dio does not have horns (literal horns, that is).

What about bands that went downhill then redeemed themselves?

JOURNEY! Have you heard the new singer? He's a Philipino (sp?) version of Steve Perry. Fucking flawless.

Darkane, to a lesser extent. Rusted Angel was one of the sickest CDs ever; then the singer left to be in a pop or pop rock band, I can't remember. Insanity came out and I wanted to kill myself. Then Expanding Senses and Layers of Lies came out and it was all good.

A guy I work with just saw Journey last week and said the new singer absolutely sucked.
He said Heart was awesome live though.

im glad we can agree to disagree ... i am not into Dio though i do respect the mans talent ... i just believe he is the main cog post Ozzy and it should have been Dio featuring Black Sabbath ... take away the vocalists and compare the music and H&H becomes subpar compared to earlier writings

Yeah, I dunno - where you guys hear "prog," I hear "alternative rock." Just popped in "Far From the Sun" for a re-listen to see if I missed something - this shit still sucks. Parts of it sound like a slightly less depressed Neurosis, but the rest of it just sounds like a cross between Stone Temple Pilots and (later, shitty) Alice in Chains. NOTHX, PLZ.

i think Christ Illusion was a good album....not their best ever, but probably better than Divine Intervention I.M.O.

Roots wasn't that bad (but the tribal shit did get annoying)

and Fear Factory started to suck after their demos

I definately think they've gone downhill, in my opinion the have at least. I dont think they've fallen apart as much as changed so many members that their direction changed drastically. It happens when you change drummers every record, and guitarists almost as often. But yes i like fused better than the new ones

ok....i'll stop quoting people....i have three more to address....

Deicide....yes the last albums they put out on Roadrunner were awful, but their next two releases were actually pretty fucking good

Skinny Puppy - they always sucked

Crisis - I love the old stuff, and while "Like Sheep Led To Slaughter" Wasn't their best work, it certainly wasn't bad....i actually really enjoyed the song "Blood Burden"......i could just be biased because i have a thing for Karyn (even though i'm usually not into very skinny chicks, or broads with dreads)

What? I guess it is of a acquired taste, but one of my fav. bands. But, "The Process" and their re-formation is a fucking travesty. Horrible stuff.

A lot of people say Metallica fell apart, I'll admit their last record St. Anger wasn't my favorite, but hey atleast they were doing something different...
If most of these bands out today were as long as Metallica do you think they'd still be writing this death core mumble jumple? probably not.
Metal is a very different genre with many different styles in one.
Metallica just changed their style over the years... Not the best change, but if you can't write the same stuff anymore why try? Hopefully this next record is much better than the last few though.

c.dead - i just always hated skinny puppy.....especially the whole "retard voice through a distortion pedal" vocal style....

just my opinion, but i have heard alot of their material, and it is just a bad attempt at industrial (which is an awful style in the first place) and experimental noise.

mr. annonymous......
Metallica blows, they have for over a decade, nothing they have played since the Black Album even resembles metal.
changing your sound and direction is all well and good, but it's obviously just for money, if it was an artistic decision, i'm sure they wouldn't have made anything as gay as Load (which i thought was bush when i first heard it....i was so disappointed).

Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Deicide, Napalm Death, Gwar....all bands who have been around for 2 decades or longer, and are still playing music that is very heavy....maybe different, maybe not as good as their old shit, but unlike Selloutica, they are still playing very very heavy music

Rush is the best band ever!! Dreadkill!
One of the most talented ones in their heyday but I've gotta 100% disagree with you on best band ever!
I've always preferred King Crimson, Yes, Tull, and others to Rush only in the sense that I think Rush fails to capture emotion in a lot of their (newer) songs.

Metallica did change ... when Burton died ... And Justice still carried Burton inspired riffs and music ... i did really enjoy their release of covers in Garage days rerevisited mainly the helpless cover ... they did a good job on that ... then Black began their commercial coming out album ... i listened to it a few times ... never really sat right with me but it was ok ... and then after that album they became trendy and you can hear the lost edge from then on

king crimson and tull are incredible and can almost hang with rush, but rush completely destroys yes and defecates in yes's dickhole. i like yes, but rush kills them. just my opinion. if i could only listen to 3 bands for the rest of my life, i'd choose katatonia (because they're my favorite), and rush and motorhead (because they are the two best bands i've ever heard).

i wouldn't say they fell apart, so much as got lost.
the music they are playing is good, it's just getting very reptetitive.
i think they could pull it back together.
