maybe some one or a group of someones should compile a compilation cd to be distrubuted at metal fest or other shows?

or just for promotion for unsigned new england metal bands?

im sure if people looked around we could find a great deal on cdr's i got 100 for $28.00 with a $20 rebate = 8 cents per disc.

most bands already have recording from which they could donate a song. and a few other bands could probably record a new song for it. there are enough people on this board who can record in one way shape form or another.

so each band throws down a few bucks for the packaging? like a cheap cardboard sleeve? that'd be a cool thing to do.

[Feb 23,2005 11:19pm - Josh_hates_you ""]
um i have no idea. im not an authority on the subject but i would say any bands that want to be involved should discuss the matter of how high quality they want to go with it.

even $10 x 20 bands would be alot of home pressed cds and covers.

my friend has one of those cd burners at his work that does 50 discs in 30 minutes with one load. he would most likely burn these if i asked him too.

if you use the "rttp" letters on the CD, don't forget..the rev will have to be paid extra bling$$$

josh hates you... I know this might sound gay.. but... well there's no other way to say this... you love me.

I'm for this 100%. if someone wants to orgonize it, this would rock! It makes me happy that someone out there (aka the bands and stuff who use this site) would be down with doing something like this themselves.

For my part, I would hand out cds at the places that I go (along with metalfest) and I could make a reporitory for people to upload wave tracks for this comp. Though I doubt with all the awesome bands on here that one song from everyone wouldn't fill more than one cd.
I mean, abhorred... goratory... raov... hcn... dissector.. porphyria.. raising publick... cryptic warning... shroud (one song would be half the CD!)... the nightmare continues...
I could go on and on.

YES!! now this is going in the right direction.

looking into diskmakers and superdups and their 1000 cd packages with a sleeve go for about $1000. they would be good quality but we would need 25 bands at $40 a piece

or buy assloads of cdrs and having tons of people burning them would be alot cheaper and just paying for the packaging maybe?

im sure people like joenc and anne would know more about good deals in duplication.

... ANOXIA... TERATISM... LEUKORRHEA... ASCENDANCY...

I suggest we use full packaging in jewel cases (about 20 cents each), that way they aren't as "disposable".

All we have to do is have booklets and traycards printed (doesn't Tim of PORPHYRIA work for a print shop and Nate of LEUKORRHEA?) I will assemble them all and shrink wrap them all here.

Let's do this!

i'm not in a band or anything "yet" but this sounds like a really good idea to get these local bands out there and be heard. good thinking josh.

These could actually be a collectors item if you guys wanna do 1000, I will hand number them.

And fuck Discmakers, DGR Inc. is the best and cheapest in the US.

[Feb 24,2005 10:39am - WhyamIandasshole ""]
This is a good idea. You can get CD's cheaper the more you get printed but there are other manufacturing companys outside of the US that do it for cheaper than the 1000 for 1000.

there will be 2000 people at metal fest alone.

maybe 1000 "good ones" for distibution over the next year and like 2 or 3 hundred of those to the metal fest

and like another 2 or 300 "home made copies" for the fest too? seriously the metal fest will be a huge way to gain access to local "metal" fans

remember last year there where like 300 extra users for the next few weeks after the fest looking at pics? what if they had a cd to go with it all?

average banner ads get 3.5K-5K views per day
after hellfest last year (when the server couldn't keep up) 8 banner ads were getting 12K view per day each.

I'm looking into ways to make RttP run smoothly in the aftermath of nehmf this year... I'm optimizing everything, updating to the latest code (mysql 3.23 to 4.19, php 5.02 to 5.03), and I'm going to remove a bunch of things for the fest week.

this is definately a kick ass idea. not only would it promote the bands on the CD, but RttP itself. and aaron could never turn down some shameless self promotion now could he? I couldn't.
I'm not in a band, and can't do much for the CD but I'd be more than happy to distribute if need be. keep the ball rolling!!

ya we handed a bunch out and, somehow some guy from Italy got ahold of one, and emailed us....so even if 1 guy gets it, that wouldnt b4 its worth it, to me.
I'd pitch 20 bucks into this idea.

I'm thinking that one track from each band on here would mean that 2 discs would be needed...

nate - i been looking into it and so far new england cd has had the lowest price.

$1000 for 1000 in jewel cases 5 color print on cds and inserts.

a bunch of other places are about $1000 for just the little sleeves. if you can get a better deal that would be awesome.

i can take all the individual tracks and normalize them to one level for the cd to be pressed. ghetto mastering if you will. or maybe someone can do it better.

there needs to be bands willing to be on it so far there are a few bands that expressed interest and 3x that many people not in bands interested.

maybe 20 bands x 50 bucks = $1000 and 1000 cds

each band gets: a song on the cd. band name, song name, etc. on the back cover. band info/contact info on the inside. 20 copies of the compilation do do as you please.

every band gets 20 copies that is 600 left over. maybe like 100 to the reverend to dispense.

and the rest to be given away by "street teams" at the metal fest?

i am obviously just throwing ideas into the wind here.

50 bucks may seem high but if every band signs up then we are talking 2 cds and even more money to dup/package. the $50 might help limit the whole thing so it can fit on one cd.

again just throwing out ideas.

well, I could sit here all day and say bands that are "rttp" bands...
I would love a deverse CD with some metalcore, noisecore, and harcore...
colin of arabia, as long as we're all living we're all dying, screams of erida, suspension of graces, cut throat... the list could (and will I'm sure) go on and on.

I think you are right, I remember seeing assloads of demos in the trash at the door. This all seems like a novel idea, but if only a fraction of them got tossed in the trash, it would definatly suck. If anyone does organize this, I definatly want in.

Visionaries of the Macabre were the Lost Disciple compilations.

http://www.dgrinc.com/ will give the best price for 1000 raw CDs, like I said, I will assemble them and wrap them here.

All we need to do is design the booklet and traycard and have them printed.
