_________________________________ [Jun 2,2004 12:41pm - Terence ""] yeah, there is only 4 bands playing, Romprerop Bodies... Inhume Ascendancy all the information is still the same. Ive had to deal with a lot of crap for this show, josh_hates_you, trust me, its awesome that you are coming, and as far as the Midget, well, I can send you the conversation i had with one of them last night dude, it wasnt pretty. To anyone that goes, I greatly appreciate it, and its a HUGE help for the scene and the bands on tour. Once again, to all bands, I am sorry that I have not booked an opening replacement band, there were just too many problems, I didnt want to deal with anymore. If you think thats shitty of me, oh well. This isnt going to be the last show on the face of the planet. |

________________________________________ [Jun 3,2004 12:02am - Josh_hates_you ""] well hmm where to begin.......almost 2 hours of waiting for the first band. asscendency-noise.....damn i wish i could have heard a song or two. the drummer is sick i wish i heard something besides his cymbals. vox way too low. might be good with a sound guy. vile or whoever-yeah whatever. no respect to singers who use a distortion pedal live. i almost heard a drum or two. romperprop-woo hoo i finally heard a drum. too bad he played the same 3 blast beat patterns 90% of the time. again shitty distorted vox. inhume- could hardly hear drums on fast parts but otherwise inhume was fucking sick. would have liked to see people move. bodies in the gears- fucking sick. sounded decent. vox too low for the most part. overall i have to say a funeral would have been more fun. 5 bucks gas+10 bucks to get in+12 bucks for beer=i want my $$$ back why did every band sound better with asscendency's PA than they did? this was the first metal show i been to in a while and it will probably be the last for a while. i hate to admit it but hardcore shows are WAY MORE FUN. before everyone tells me how much i suck......thanks in advance |
______________________________________ [Jun 3,2004 12:59am - the_reverend ""] ascendancy: well.. I read joshhu's review. I have to agree, the sound during most of ascendancy sucked. there was NO sound guy at all. terence had to go over to the board himself. you pick anything apart from their amazingly technical work. by the time they played that new song, it was sounding pretty awesome. that new song slayed it. I can't wait to hear it again when I'll actually be able to hear the vocals. bile: didn't know they were on this bill, but then they got up and played. there was a horrid connection that kept the vocals form doing what they were suppose to. the singer/guitar player had a pedal that pitch-shifted the voice ala ldoh. the drummer was freaking hilarious. I can't believe some of the stuff that he said... making fun of bitgota's name or joshBITGOTA's shower habbits (or lack there are). romprerop: the left guy had a mask on, but not the rest of the "costume". they sounded so fucking sick.. though they pissed off at least one crowd member with the "faggot" song. inhume: holy cow.. they were amazing. dual vocalists, dual guitarists? it was insane. the singer (who looks like he's from anoxia) kept doing kicks. bodies in the gears of the apparatus: I haven't seen these guys for 1 1/2 years... and they have gone through lik 30 line-up changes. though this line up seems pretty solid. their shit was pretty damn tight and they sounded just like the old 3". they only played like one old song though. also, the vocals there too low at the beginning, but after 2 turns ups, they sounded great. funny how bad the english was... man.. sooooo much cleveland steamers |

________________________________ [Jun 3,2004 3:15am - Terence ""] I would have to say that I had an awesome time. This was the first time that I've booked a show at Club Marque, and the turnout was decent, Im glad that people came out. Inhume is the sickest fucking band ever. Although I did lose money on this, the bands were very happy, and good times were had by all. Sure the sound sucked, but now we know how to deal with it for the Brutal Domination Tour coming up. :D |
______________________________________ [Jun 3,2004 3:39am - DeOdiumMortis ""] Lots of rooms don't seem to like us. Acoustically. In an acoustic way. I had fun. I saw quite a few other people having fun. Like Terence said, now we have a much better idea of what to do and what not to do with sound in that club, and until places like the Palladium start opening their doors, arms and ears to smaller shows that aren't flavor-of-the-month, this is the kind of place we have to survive in. I'm not going to let it stop me from enjoying some good bands. |
____________________________________ [Jun 3,2004 9:27am - RustedAngel ""] it was an awesome time. shared a few laughs and had a couple cold ones. (water) ascendancy: It had been a while, but I still remember the wall of sound these guys produce. I could hear the bass mostly out of the mix so from that I sorta guessed what the guitars were doing. Mikes left hand moves so fast that it's no wonder you can't really hear what's going on, the speed of sound just can't keep up with his playing!!! The drums were somewhat difficult to hear as were the vocals :( I know you guys have a very distinct sound, but I think IF you wanted your guitars to be more audible you'd need tighter sounding amps. Just my guitaro opinion. bile: funny funny drummer. vocals were funny too. not really something i'd listen too though. rumperompstomp: same vocal style once again, pretty funny in between songs once again. the singer barely opened his mouth when he did vox. inhume: now here was the first death/grind band of the night that sparked an interest with me. sick vocals, the guy that looked like anoxia's vocalist had and awesome range and kept doing jumpkicks. hahah. bodies: pretty good grind band, but i'm more of a death metal fan so i'm not one to really critique. they were tight though, drummer was probably one of the best of the night. |

________________________________________ [Jun 3,2004 10:30am - Josh_hates_you ""] sorry terrence. i cannot tell a lie even if it is in my own best interest or to protect someone elses feelings. i think its awesome that you put forth the effort to make the show happen. i like the asscendency mp3's and wanted to see you live since i never go to shows in boston cause of the train closing early. i was just very dissappointed to pay 10 bucks to see bands that i should like but unfortunately due to uncontrolable circumstances(one of my first posts in this thread was about the sound of that club) unfortunately most every show i have ever been to sounds like ass i dont know why people dont take the time to learn how to use a PA as an instrument. it takes sound guys as long to learn how to do shit right as it did for you to learn how to play guitar.......on a side note you had 2 hours to do a soundcheck....... maybe im just a nit picking bastard but for 10 bucks and bands from overseas that i wont see for another 5 years, if ever. but i like good procuction at any show any form of music if you ever play worcester again hit me up run everything through my board and use my floor monitors all you will need is the FOH speakers you'r probably going to hate this post more than the original one |

Thanks for coming out though, we have a better perception now of the sound, we'll try a different method at the Brutal Domination...the 2hour "soundcheck" was actually just buying time until some people got there. |
