The CTs fail on their own merits. If it was a covert plan for the government to gain strength, they wouldn't have sat on the news through the 2010 elections when it would have reversed the result for them. I'm all about skepticism and critical thinking when there's a logic basis for it but this is teh stupid. People were claiming Bin Laden might be dead for years, as for a long time it was in the media to take heat off Bush for never catching him. The line went that MAYBE the videos and audio from new releases are years old and being released by supporters, MAYBE this and MAYBE that - and it all seemed quite possible, but you know what I said over and over at the time? He's still alive - and for the very reason, oddly enough that all the CTs are relying on (but just doing so incorrectly): from the reaction in the last twelve hours in this country, it's OBVIOUS that no politician remotely interested in power could sit on the news of his death, as there would be absolutely zero benefit in doing so. Also, claiming his death and not being able to prove it would be pointless (actually it would be a negative and not worth the effort), so they're not bluffing any more than Saddam Hussein is living on an island somewhere on a resort (he's not - he's dead). OBL is too, because our government actually LOOKED for him in the last couple years, instead of tacitily letting him live (and really, that IS what happened for about six years) so he could keep alive justification for the War on Terrrrrr Orwellian "everyone agree with us or your a traitor" Groupthink that owned the mass media for years. That much of the conspiracy was true, sadly enough. Weekend at Osama's with the corpse that ain't dead, however, is a bridge too far in this case. |
