__________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 4:42pm - madoakdevin nli ""] You're very welcome. thank you all for playing: HYEO, Endless Decay, The Arkham White, In the Shit, Mast, and To the Wolves. To the dudes in Mast, sorry I missed half your set. Earlier I found out the doorguy didn't charge anyone (or stole money from me to support his fucking cocaine habit... no joke) for the BBQ and I had $35 to work with. In the middle of your set I watched him let in like 3 or 4 more people for free and had a freak out session. I had to go ask my buddy who was working up at Great Scott, who also is fighting cancer right now and can barely work, to borrow $100 from him so I could pay Harpoon. On top of that I had a full blown argument with the night bartender because he kept telling me to do shit that wasn't my responsibility as a promoter. Me loosing $140 on this show aside, all the bands were great and I had a good time. Thanks for playing! |
_____________________________ [Jul 14,2009 5:48pm - dna ""] That's not cool. If we had a guitar player, I'd play to try and re-coup your losses. That sux, sorry man! |
_________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 6:03pm - RustyPS ""] that fucking sucks Devin, I'm so sorry to hear that |
____________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 6:39pm - xgodzillax ""] that sucks dude, thanks for letting us play though. and the day bbq was the balls! |
_______________________________ [Jul 14,2009 6:48pm - Murph ""] Yeah, Devin, it's totally cool, we were just happy to play. Really sucks that you have to get dicked around nowadays, hope it doesn't deter you in the future from putting on shows. Thanks, man. |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 7:53pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] I had a great time at this. Devin you did a really awesome job setting it up. The Arkham White: these guys were great. I was really impressed with the vocals. As I said following their set, DK reminds me of Simon Brody from Drowningman on stage... which was fucking neat. I love Drowningman. Arkham's music was deceptively progressive too, like all the parts when the drummer was rocking a solid 4 pocket with the guitars doing odd patterns over it. Not the kind of stuff that makes you say "Wow that's hard", more like the stuff where you can't control your head from bobbin, but then you realize where the guitar phrases are and it makes it have a sick swing. Really good. Endless Decay: These dudes drove from the cape for this show, and you could tell they were excited to be playing, which is real cool to see. Tight drummer, solid strings, and very Dimension Zero-ish vocals. (Murph picked that out) Good swedish influenced stuff, keep at it. |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 7:55pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] ...and i had a blast playing with HYEO. I can't wait till we've played together more than 3 times so i can really nail the stuff. Nick and Rusty are two of the nicest dudes around. Fact. |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 7:57pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] oh, and this was the third show that i've been to that Rich Bova was praised on the mic. good stuff people. |
_________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 7:58pm - W3 nli ""] hi im jim, i dont stay and hangout |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 8:06pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] hi i'm jim, there were 2 shows at the same club on the same day. I stayed for the show i was playing, watched the other bands, and had stuff to do that night. Sorry kiddo. |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 8:11pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] I am sorry about it, but there was nothing i could do. Mans got responsibilities. I was bummed though, i wanted to see INT and see what all the "HYPE" was about. And I absolutely love MAST. They're one of the best bands i've seen from the area. (not REALLY the area, but close enough.) |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 8:11pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] woops, i meant ITS, not INT. haha |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 8:15pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] I gotta say, it was strange that someone who called me a "waste of life" asked to borrow my drums. If they hadn't been hurt by someone else recently i would've said yes anyways, it was just strange. |

If they hadn't been hurt by someone else recently i would've said yes anyways, it was just strange. get over it, its the fucking internet. i was actually being nice when i walked up to you and shook your hand, but you know, the internet is real life and everything said on the internet should be taken to heart. interwebz>real life |
_________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 9:57pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] hahaha. I thought my comment made it clear that i was over it. I just thought it was funny. |
__________________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 10:04pm - BoarcorpseJimbo ""] I'm such a newb, i didn't realize that i should have a totally different personality on the internet. |
_____________________________________ [Jul 14,2009 10:18pm - xgodzillax ""] each time you back peddle, you prove to me (atleast) how much you actually take message board talking to heart. but dont worry, im an asshole in real life as well. i just thought it would be, you know, cordial to atleast introduce myself. but shame on me for not taking the internet seriously, golly gee |

I saw them about a year ago and had a neutral opinion. They blew me away on Sunday. As for Endless Decay, I thought, "Wow, they are just as fucking good as Led to the Grave." I think one of them ended up getting kicked out because people near him were smoking weed on the patio. Kind of a bum-out. |

Other highlights include Nick of To the Wolves spilling PBR on his lyrics, causing a rupture in the space-time continuum, Jim playing awesomely for HYEO prompting his cloning so he can be in more bands, and Rusty being traumatized for the rest of his life. It was so great to have so many people there for the day show, I hope that there can be more 18+ shows at Obriens in the soon-future. I wish the ceiling was higher. There has always been a small place in my heart for a band who performs spit tricks. The long trickle of loogie (how is that spelled?) dangling from his chin for an eternity was pretty disgusting and would have made for a great picture. As for 18+ shows on the weekend, they are always an option. This was my second one. I did one with American Heritage a few years back that didn't do so well. I think BBQ's make for good attendance. |

HOLY SHIT, Devin if you ever decide to book American Heritage again, MAST would love love love to play. Millenarian was awesome. |
__________________________________________ [Jul 15,2009 3:04am - madoakdevin nli ""] i'll keep you updated. i still keep in touch with them from time to time. i'm pretty close with most of the chicago area bands. i'm usually their go-to guy for boston. the upside of american heritage is one of them forgot their guitar here and I got to play this fuckin' weird fernandes thing for a few months until another chi-town band was in town. also, i didn't know the bassist of harpoon was in liar of the minotaur. he was telling me about their show at great scott as we walked up their to grab a few drinks at the end of the night. |
______________________________ [Jul 15,2009 11:24am - dna ""] I talked with him about the same shit. He had a Kylesa hat on and I was, sweet band we played with them at Church a while back and he was like, so did my other band Liar of the Minotaur. We played on the same show and we had no clue who each other were haha. Whatever, Harpoon was really good, wish more people were able to catch em. |
__________________________________ [Jul 15,2009 11:26am - RustyPS ""] I really wanted to stick around for them, but I was beyond exhausted |
______________________________ [Jul 15,2009 11:32am - dna ""] You still crippled like me? Just getting over, the massive back spasms. I stayed for that whole show, and can honestly say it was solid from start to finish besides that band of assholes TTW. |
