DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT ,KATATONIA, and Paradise Lost to tour the sleepy states[views:34087][posts:53]____________________________________ [Sep 21,2012 10:59pm - Boozegood ""] Friday night sit on my floor in my underwear listening to vinyl drinking mead reading Slayer magazine alone rituals. |

________________________________ [Sep 22,2012 1:39am - Mark_R ""] I went. Paradise Lost: opened with first track from Draconian Times, everything after that was newer. So no Icon, my personal fave album. Played two dance/techno songs (the two 'hits'). I'm OK with the new albums so I didn't mind the new metal songs they did. Their sound mix was very bad. Lots of dry British humor between songs. Katatonia: didn't suck. Played a full hour. Went back as far as Discouraged Ones. Ended with a teaser of the famed Entombed 'Demon' riff, but without that scream. Seemed a little more "it's our job" and a little less genuinely passionate, but played well enough. Devin: hysterical, and impressively good performance (despite not sounding very good, it being Palladium downstairs). Excellent video projection during set up which continued throughout the set and brought non-stop LOLs. Played a surprisingly even spread from his career including Regulator from Ocean Machine and three songs from Infinity. Nothing from Physicist (unless you count Kingdom), Terria, or Accelerated Evolution, but hit everything else sans Ziltoid which was very present in other ways. He surpassed my expectations quite a bit, considering this was the third time I've seen him. Glad I went. Would see again. Would love to see PL after a good soundcheck and with a full-length set time. |
