He spent the war cross the Atlantic 6596496 times dodging U-Boats and pitching up the sailors from the ships that weren't so lucky. Before the war, he once jumped of a cruise ship somewhere in the Pacific, in shark infested waters, to resuce the Captain's grandson who fell overboard. Francis O'Connell was both a gentleman and a crazy hard drinkin' irish bastard. My grandfather on my mothers side was an mechanic for the Army Air Corps. He fixed up fighters, bombers and all that during the North Africa and Italy campaigns all around the Middle East and Mediterranean. Anything further back then WWII, I'd have to do some serious research. |
