80s pop isn't as bad as today's pop, since there was at least some sort of originality and 'breakthrough' quality stuff that no one ever really thought to do with music besides a few people ahead of their time in previous decades. today it's abound with assholes who want to make quick money while only sacrificing every morale in this world, haha

This is true. I'm no fan of today's TRL pop.

werd. the only stuff that is reminscent of 80s style pop...well, not full feldged pop... that i can stand to listen to is the bravery, pretty much only because my girlfriend forced it upon me, haha

I will check them out. I noticed there are a lot of sort of pop rock bands these days biting off the Cars and Talking Heads...bands like Franz Ferdinand and the Killers, etc. Just can't get into that.

talking heads rule, anyone that try to rip them off will always fail miserably.

the bravery kind of remind me of morissey, but with a slightly modern touch. i guess pop rock would be the most correct moniker

anyone here have GG Allin's first album from 1980 "always was, is and always shall be"? that album has a real strong pop/rock influence; i love that album, GG and the jabbers were great. i don't like that new guy they have now.

I'm not a fan of BDM whatsoever, what they play was fast and technical in 1995 when it was called At the Gates, and they even have particular tunes which are simply At the Gates riffs and note patterns with the notes changed, same progression, same tempo changes, etc. As if we wouldn't notice.

Are you serious? There's actual songs that follow the exact same progression? I mean, i new that BDM is nothing but a huge At The Gates rip-off, but i didnt know that there were entire songs ripped off, in terms of progressions and shit. Which songs are you talking about? I want to have some shit to show some of my friends who are addicted to BDM, yet have never heard At The Gates.

It's on the first CD, it parallel's the song 'Slaughter of the Soul' extremely closely, with the groove section and everything. I'll try and figure it out but of course I don't own the BDM CD.

i strongly recommend the Disembowelment cd. its incredible old school funeral doom. the slowest, sludgiest thing i've heard in a long fucking time. if ever. you can see who Evoken and Funebrarum got their influence from.

I have a massive collection of fansubs and some anime DVDs, so, yeah...like that stuff as much as metal Mononoke is okay but I hate the end, some of Miyazaki's other films are far better: Nausicaa, Spirited Away, etc.

Yeah, one issue I always take with his movies are the letdown endings, the films build up so much and it's almost like he just never cares by the end. Nausicaa is one exception, also the Boy of Future Conan TV show from the late 70s, and some of the Lupin he worked on like Castle of Cagliostro.

He directed the TV series and the Castle of Cagliostro film, I think he may have also written the film.

You know what really pisses me off? When my ex used to tell me to put the toilet seat down for her. So I did, but she got angry when she found my piss on the seat. Dumb cunt.....
