what does the footswitch control, besides channels and effects loop?

[Oct 7,2004 8:59pm - RustedAngel ""]
the footswitch controls the 4 channels (Clean, Crunch, Soft Lead, Heavy Lead) and has two additional features (Reverb or Contour & VLS or Master A/B)

I'm not really positive what the 'reverb contour does' but the Master A/B gives you two seperate master volumes, so you can have a lead volume and a rhythm volume.

It might work for you, but I've yet to find a decent rack mountable pre-amp that can get the sound of a well built tube head. The prophecy comes close, but I'm saving my pennies and converting back over to a head.

Yeah, he uses DFH superior. It's a memory whore, and a little complex to use, but the sounds are worth it. I use a combination of DFH and DFH2, it's close but not quite the same quality or versatility.

Hey, if you need any help setting up that studio let me know, I'd be glad to help you out. I've got a pretty decent setup going right now myself.

I get around it by writing my parts as midi, then resampling and bouncing to audio track by track. I also sometimes use a single synth with a full close mic'd kit just so I can hear roughly what the drums will sound like as I'm tracking.

I really have no idea what I'm going to do about drum tracking... cause I'm not really good with drum 'timing'... So I guess getting my PC setup to record over an SM57 and do some vocal tracks will be good enough to start off with.. I asked what I should get on HC and here's what I think I'm going to get:

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 ($100)
M-Audio DMP3 ($150)
Sure SM57 ($80)

I think that's all I should need, minus the software which I'm sure I can pirate ;)

on the cab? if so, 1" away from the grill off axis from the cone.
I prefer mic'ing the bottom right speaker, but I dont think it reallt matters.

ra, I can help ya with drum trax if ya want.

when I mic my deizel amp I always keep the mic elevated and never let it toutch the gound, about six inches to foot away from the bottom right speaker sloping upwards. When I mic my crate I just sling it over the cab.
stay away from the sm 57. eats balls. try out AKG. the d2300 has a built in shockmount and is the best sounding mic I have ever used for drum and vocal micing next to the OHM 2

If you buy it from musicians friend, they give you two more for free.

well, I've heard what the SM57 can and it sounds plenty good enough. I really don't need 3 mics i don't think?

I wonder if I can find a copy of that pirated to save some cash... I know i've found the wav samples for the drums before, but I'll need that software.

you won't need three, but for the same price as the 57, why not have three?

and yes, I am quite whorish when it comes to my equiptment. I'm the geek you see ariving at the show two hours before hand setting every dial on the amp to comply with the SPL of the building haha.

as far as that prate goes, search kazalite. I've found everything on there from counterstrike to photoshop and psps plugins to cakewalk and protools.

Firstly, you didn't find those wav's, because they cannot be accessed outside the kontact player that comes with DFH2. You probably had the original DFH samples.

Secondly, DFH2 is about a 2 gig download, that's a long time, and a lot of hope that the person that has the file doesn't sign off on you.

Thirdly, why are you looking for places to pirate it, when I already told you to talk to me when you try to get your studio going? Email me sometime, I think I can make you happy, and without even taking my pants off.
