Actually, our corporate offices are in Dedham Ma. Also, We put maybe one commercial on TV a year, during football season. In addition, about a year or two ago we did some taste testing and polls and people prefer our pizza by a landslide.
But Bestial Onslaught is right, why support a local pizza chain with good product and 300 restaraunts when you can line the pockets of Jamal and his 13 cousins who work for free at the local family pizza parlor.
By the way, I work for Papa Ginos. NOT Dominos.

Papa Gino's fucking sucks. Every single person near my age that I've talked to agrees with me that some time around 1990 they changed something about how they make pizza, because we all loved it when we were kids and it sucks now.
BTW People named Jamal make shitty pizza with fake cheese. Find a local place run by guys named Tony and Sal and Angelo and you'll get good pizza.
Also, stay away from any pizza place named after something greek. You want italians.

In fact, where I live, there are no chains. They all went out of business, destroyed by the local competition. Dominoes is gone, Little Ceasars is gone, and Pizza Hut has been reduced to a split restaruant with a Taco Bell that only serves personal pizzas.

I disagree about the crust but even if that is true, greeks use horrible sauce and most of em' don't use real cheese, they use that processed "cheese food" crap.
But seriously, I don't think someone who's never scarfed a large pizza and washed it down with a pitcher or a 6 pack is really qualified to judge.
Judging from how Nick's house smells, I don't think his family is exactly made up of Italy's finest chefs.

For the record, all the testing that we've done show that our pizza is preferred to all our competitors, but our target market is definately not kids your age, so you might be onto something there.
As far as changing the pizza, in the early 90's some restaurants changed from traditional rotary ovens to deck or conveyor ovens, so the Papa Gino's near you might be using one of those. They don't quite make the pizza as crispy or as thoroughly cooked. However, I think the main difference is the people making the pizza. With the job market being the way it is, and our labor budgets constricted the way they are, it's damned hard to keep a pizza maker working for you long enough for them to get good at it. It's just too much work for too little pay. Unlike some places out there (like most of the greek places, or pizza hut, etc..) we don't use pans, we actually stretch and toss the dough ourselves. It's something that takes a lot of time and practice to get down right.
I am actually on your side here. I used to LOVE papa gino's pizza as a kid, now I won't even waste my time ordering one outside of work, because it's usually nasty and made by some 16 year old retard. But, if you were to come in and have a pizza I made (after 6 years, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year of making pizzas) I assure you it would be the exact pizza you remember from when you were a kid.
Again, this brings us back to the complaints about charges, If I could actually afford to pay a pizza maker the $10 an hour they were worth, maybe I could trust that the pizzas were just as good when I wasn't making them as when I was.
Also, just for the info, In my opinion Crazy Dough has the best pizza around here. If you want better, you gotta go to New York.

The funny thing is, our slogan is "a passion for pizza", yet I think I'm one of the only people in the company who actually gives a shit. There's people in the corporate training department who don't even know as much about pizza as I do. Maybe we should all band together to start our own restaurant, I can make the pizza and manage, Terrence can drive delivery, Josh can be our taste tester, and we can do commercials with the Rev and Succubus "Heavy Metal Pizza! It makes you have bum sex!"

That would actually explain it. Those conveyor ovens make terrible pizza. Whenever I'm the road, jonesing for good pizza, and I see a conveyor oven in the pizza place I walk into I get wicked bummed out and hope there's another one nearby.

Absolutely. That's why Pizza (sl)Hut drowns thier pizza in oil and pans it. They use conveyor ovens, so they oil fries the pizza crust to make up for the lack of crispiness in the shitty oven. The oil in turn is the reason why I can finish an entire edition of the Boston Globe on the toilet after I eat there.

I would NEVER fuck with the food someone was paying for, no matter how much I like or dislike them.
I seem hostile because if I speak my mind to customers I get in trouble (see my comments in the other thread about why I was demoted). Therefore, I tend to vent everything outside of work whenever the opportunity arises. Nothing personal, trust me.

I couldn't even imagine working at a pharmacy. The few times I've gone to pick up prescriptions the people in line ahead of me were complete morons, especially the old people.

Indeed... especially when the pizza is better and the prices are cheaper.
Who really cares about taste tests? I don't give a shit what the general public likes their pizza to taste like, I go by my own tastebuds.
As for the Greek vs. Italian debate, I prefer Greek pizza generally, but I do agree the best Italian places are supreme. They're not toooo easy to find though. I have both a Greek and an Italian place within a mile of me, and I go with the Greek 4 outta 5 times... Now if that Italian places was Regina's... different story.
