The Red Chord part ways with drummer: John Longstreth[views:36035][posts:33]______________________________________ [Sep 21,2004 9:52pm - the_reverend ""] The Red Chord part ways with drummer. John Longstreth (formerly of Origin, Skinless, Angel Corpse fame) apparently has another ex-band to add to the list. According to a messageboard post by Longstreth, he sites "stylistics difference" in the split. Taken from The Red Chord site: "Several sites beat us to it, but the rumors are indeed true. John Longstreth is no longer in the band. To avoid any complications, we'll stick with the simple 'stylistic differences' explanation, because it's more accurate than any other. I'd like to believe we're all still on good terms. We do, however, have to cancel our upcoming shows. There are a few people filling in and helping out in the meantime to aid in finalizing new material while we find a new permanent member. A big special thanks to our original drummer, Mike Justain, for helping us out the last few days." Parties interested in trying out can send sample recordings of their playing via audio or video format to the BMA address below or e-mail the band at theredchord@hotmail.com. Parties are asked that they should be fully confident they can play the older Red Chord material. Serious inquiries only! |

_____________________________________ [Sep 21,2004 10:16pm - salty_fist ""] I wish Mike Justain would just get back behind the set for the Red Chord. Although Unearth is a great oppurtunity to further his career in music, he's just too good for that band. The Red Chord is where it's at. |

_______________________________________ [Sep 21,2004 10:43pm - the_reverend ""] personally, I hope that mike comes back to TRC. his intensity just added a 100x to TRC. I sort of always felt that mike was the prodigal son of TRC and one day, after being sick of unearth, would come back to TRC. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 21,2004 10:49pm - BornSoVile ""] I hope RAOV finds a drummer first. |

_____________________________________ [Sep 23,2004 4:58pm - RustedAngel ""] from john himself on the derek roddy board: "Subject: The Red Chord. not for me. Well, here i am again, jobless in the scene. As it turns out, yours truly and The Red Chord have parted ways under the ever so popular "stylistic differences" clause. so what....... im already talking to someone else. A completly NEW project possibly in the works. For now im going to relax, not tour for a while, practice, finish my kit, do some studio work, get some rest, see what happens, and mostly NOT GIVE A SHIT. " |
_________________________________ [Sep 23,2004 5:02pm - Terence ""] I bet he is a bundle of joy to work with. |

_____________________________________ [Sep 28,2004 3:37pm - Josh_Martin ""] Fuck that guy. Origin opened for Anal Cunt once in KC and after they bored everyone to death and we kicked ass our drummer saw him walking around all disgusted that AC got a better response than they did, on their home turf. The awesomest quote from him was "they're not even a real band". What a fag. Goes to show that no matter how technically talented you are, it does not make you interesting. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 28,2004 3:44pm - RustedAngel ""] i'd be pretty bored with AC... as I am with shit like Anal blast... I like seeing real bands. |
_________________________________ [Sep 28,2004 4:03pm - Siberia ""] Josh_Martin said:no matter how technically talented you are, it does not make you interesting. Nor does it make you a good band member. As ArrowHead was telling me when Pillory was up in VT, either a band is really good and a bunch of pricks, or they suck and are the coolest people you'll ever meet. I feel that finding that balance is the key. I feel everything has a balance, I've thought this way for a really long time. That's when I found myself being able to manage a full time job, being a full time student, and being in a band that practiced 3 night/week and played shows on weekends. I actually had my best semesters during that period of time. |
_____________________________________ [Sep 28,2004 4:15pm - Josh_Martin ""] What I thought was the funniest part was our drummer at the time, John Kevorkian, could play faster and better than Longstreth. It just wasn't until he joined Today is the Day that the public got to see that side of his playing. |
