My Review: Musically, an awesome show. Turnout was OK, although not quite what was expected (Malikhi's singer lied to me about their pre-sell), but there were still fifty-something people paid altogether so I guess that's pretty decent. Endgame went on first and played a really good set. Great lead guitarwork from Brendan and Campbell highlighted their songs. (Campbell in particular is one of the better shredders I've seen locally.) Gathering Shadows went on next and did really well in front a good sized crowd. It's so hard to believe that these kids are all still in high school. With impressive writing, musicianship, and two guitar players who can really rip, these guys are well on their way. Malikhi went on next and stunk. They had no one there, despite claiming to have sold almost fifty tickets a week before the show. Worse yet, they were such a mess and had so many fuckups/equipment problems that they almost cleared out the whole room. Inflicted went on next and put the show back on track with a great set, probably the best of the night so far. Dominating thrash and two really great lead guitarists inflicted the crowd with a powerful dose of metal. Suicide Dream went on next, we seemed to get a very good response. I can't review us any further without bias, but I will say that Laurel was a trooper for going on and singing/performing so well despite being as sick as she was. The Accursed went on next, I think this had to be my favorite performance of the night. The energy, the material, the dual-lead guitars - all awesome. (I know I sound like a broken record pointing out how great the solos were at this show, but it was really remarkable how many bands on this night had not one but two great lead guitarists, which added a lot to the music from a melodic and dynamic standpoint.) Sacreligion closed out the show, they put on a good set as always. I don't know how many times I've gotten baked and listened to "Faithless", but I never fail to get into it each time. A very good show overall, despite a couple minor miscommunications with the security there which should hopefully not be a problem in the future.
