Abhorred - I was impressed, good mix of death and old school thrash riffs, lots of energy and very entertaining. They were one of the highlights of the night. Random Acts - Put on a good, but short set. The highlight once again was the Phil-a-bustin' instrumental "Tom Selleck". I was dissapointed that they didn't play "Unleashing" and also... when they kicked into their cover of "Return Of the Warlord" I was pissed because I thought it was "The Gods Made Heavy Metal" and that is a superior song...which has the same exact intro..and verse...and chorus...anyway entertaining stuff Cryptic Warning - put on a good show... I was pissed that they continue to forsake the "Snakestrike"... what the hell? But... I can't totally blame them because they had a short set...they got cut off without an encore at their cd release show... lame... soopa lame. I tried to band together some drunks to start a "War-ning" chant but by then they had turned up Rush on the PA...soopa lame. Cephalic Carnage - at this point I was not in the mood for any more bands no matter what they were, so my judgement of them would be somewhat biased, but I couldn't get into them. Sometimes I'm in a mood for this sort of thing, but by the end of last night, definitely not. We stayed because they are one of Metalguy's favorite bands and I was driving everyone around, but I wasn't really into them at all. There were some amusing parts...especially the singer's rants in between the songs... and I liked some of their stoner rock elements, but overall, not my thing.
