ok so here's some reviewage: Saturday: A Terrible Night -- Good performance, but April 2nd was more spot on. I think they couldn't hear each other, cause they are all great musicians but seemed off time with one another. I'd put the cabinets behind Maggot or maybe all arrange the facing of the cabs so they are all pointed more at each other. Sly is a sick guitarist, man...It's weird cause he doesn't come across as the type that's all like HEY I AM A GUITAR MANIAC but he can sweep pick all around my head. These guys are all super nice and the most friendly band on the planet. Everyone should party with them 24-7. Birth Rites -- they made papa proud. I really want these guys to go down to MD with us in August ... and bring Charles. I am glad people like them, Jon has helped us out innumerable times in NH and I really want to start paying them back for all of the support. Plus they are a fucking rocking band. People should check them out. Great if you like to dance and listen to Zeppelin like I do. The Taste of Silver -- I think we played well. I should have worn ear plugs cause the guitar was overblowing my ear drums (I WAS SO DEAF AFTERWARDS) but I had fun. I thank all of our friends and Especially ATNFaC for being so god damn enthusiastic. That was INCREDIBLE of you guys. And thanks to Jess for the support, kind words, and Alex the Girl for being really supportive. Bugs & Rats -- FINALLY I got to see them. AWESOME band. If you like Arab on Radar, The Crucifucks, EARLY (like "Bleach" or "Incesticide") Nirvana, and noisecore, you'd love this. Fucking great, totally into it. SUNDAY -- so I start this off by saying the big thing for me with playing this show was to see Organ Harvest, Internal Bleeding, and Wasteform. But with a 4 hr drive each way, I only got to see Organ Harvest...IB didn't even go on till like 11 or 12, adn that would have meant we would have been home by 4 AM. No way jose. Tribal Law -- awful. They all had silkscreened shirts that said "Evil Bob" or "Riffer". One song had lyrics that went "Dirty....Dirty Birdy...OH OH OH DIRTY DIRTY OH OH BIRDY BIRDY". uh....what? The Cyanide Slumber -- kinda cool...it was like Daughters meets Curl Up and Die. Good guitar tone, but constantly out of tune. They were all really friendly and as you can tell I am big into when bands are nice people off the stage and just good dudes. Very supportive and talked to us, which is cool cause we didn't know anyone in Utica. They seemed under rehearsed, but if they practiced more I bet they could do some bigger shows and even tour a bit. Down The Sky -- better than Tribal Law, but still very nu-metal. Songs with lyrics about how I, the singer, am different and why can't you accept my differences? Fuck you get away from me I am possessed I am mentally not right you can't touch my anger. That kind of thing. some riffs were catchy. The drummer was pretty good, he was really on time. TTOS -- We were reallly tight for 99% of the set. I think we made an impression, or at least I'd like to hope so. I think we might be back for the Psycroptic show in November, but not sure what day it is. Rob and Gary were awesome to us and funny guys. Albie's bar is in THE WORST PART OF TOWN like ever, but Albie is up front about it. In between bands he announces stuff so it's cool, it's like he's an Emcee. Yeah man, he's an amicable, teddy bear dude. I liked Albie and his place...they have a mini golf thing and ping-pong. Nitride(?) -- They were ok. The usual one drummer one guitarist thing. They wore goalie masks and sang songs with hip-hop, power violence, and surf rock influences. Not too bad, not too good, just typical. Nice guys though, and they had a good sense of humor. They didn't seem rehearsed at ALL so I bet if they play together more they will pick up. The guitarist does some nasty bends and harmonics...reminds me of Scott from Teratism. Organ Harvest -- Alright, flat out some of you would love this. I didn't. It was very very typical "grind" that doesn't fit my definition of grind by along shot. To me, grind songs are short, fast, many changes, usually political or satirical but with an edge (though doesn't HAVE to be exclusively). I didn't get any real feel of any of that cause they had 4 minute songs and mostly blasts and then breakdowns. Nevertheless if you like Rotten Sound, The Red Chord (who they are playing with, but the flyer said "cord"), 100 Demons, or Carcass, maybe you'll like them. I mean they were really tight and super pro, just didn't excite me like Rotten Sound, The Red Chord, etc would. They could headline a show in NY, I bet, though. Down The Drain -- better than last time, definitely Seemed more together and Brett Hoffman was more at ease. Friendly guys, Chris said hi and remembered me from when they played Jess's show at the Middle East. They even added a faster part! Still, they could do more with this band...more tempo changes and such would be nice. We had to leave cause it was 8 o'clock ish. i got home at 2am. so tired.
