[band=sonata_arctica]: so, after all the sick and hospital business, you would expect just what this would entail, a tired band. not able to perform like your ticket price says. If you thought that going to the show, you were completely proven wrong. They performed amazingly. I would never have guessed that a mere 24 hours before, Tony went to the hospital. They played for an hour and a half and not a single time during that entire set did his voice crack or show any ware at all. They came out and seemed well rested and read after the day off, cutting in to a bunch of tracks with out stopping at all. The whole band had an awesome energy and they put everything into their performance. The best thing was the keytar player’s instrument. That thing ruled. I saw these guys at NEMHF last year and they were playing it up there, I felt, to fit in with the metalcore bands that were playing. Here, they played for a straight metal audience how just wanted to sing along. Another funny fack, girls love Sonata Arctica. At a metal show, haven’t more that two females in the audience is rare, especially in the backwoods of New Hampshire in a strip club and They were singin along harder than the guys. After the mid point of the set, two of the strippers from the next door club came over and started to dance behind the guys. Tony seemed pretty startled when he turned and they were there. Jani played it up and started played the guitar at them. Don’t worry moms and dads, they kept their cloths on. It’s smart of Mark’s to advertise that way on the stage to get all the horny metal doods to blow their drunken money at the strip club through the wall. I’m no expert in the business of stripping, but I think they shouldn’t have brought out the minor leagues. Personally, I watched the reaction from the guys in the band, but not the girls. After a song, they walked off the stage and the ballads kept on flowing. After an hour, the guys ran off the stage. People weakly started to chant and finally a still energetic Tony came back to the stage and made fun of the crowd for being “quiet like church mice”. He made the audience sing for him along with some drills. They sounded like foreign language videos, “repeat after me*ding*”. They played a few more songs and then the night was over.
