I think they've been going downhill for awhile now, I thought their peak was the knockout trilogy of 'Brave Murder Day', 'Discouraged Ones' and 'Tonight's Decision'. They still can come up with catchy riffs (a couple on the last two albums), but most of the records since 'Tonight's Decision' have been mild re-writes that often sound as if Katatonia wants to score the music for Laguna Beach or American's Top Model or something.
