CANDY STRIPER DEATH ORGY said:
Boy....... I haven't seen this much whining in a long time!! The only times we've had to "pay to play" were at the Milwaukee and New Jersey Metal Fests....... We've always sold our tickets when we've had to sell tickets. We know how to do our work.
Yes you know "how to do your work" but is it ONLY the bands job to bring the crowd? Of course every band should promote the show and do their best to bring as many people as possible, but places like Marks put the responsibility completely on the bands that are playing. Whether 2 people show up or 200 they still get the same amount of money either way... Is that fair? Not totally seeing that lots of people prefer to just buy their tickets at the door or online. But I suppose its smart business because there will always be bands that do it thinking its going to do them alot of good. So I have to ask, just what risk is the promoter taking with these shows? Even if nobody shows up they are covered because they ass rape the locals and take their money. Does any responsibilty actually fall on the shoulders of the promoter or is it just on the bands shoulders? Something more fair would be if bands werent forced to sell tickets, but if they did they split it 50/50 with the club on what they sold or something to that effect.
