anyone know where i can find an inexpensive one that i can hook up to my computer. I would like to be able to convert my records to mp3 so i can listen to them in my car, but i dont wanna break the bank to do it.

You need to get one with a pre amp built into it. Radio shack has those. The older turntables wont cut it.

you have a turntable? do you have a receiver that has a phono input? Or do you have nothing right now and want to buy a turntable with a built in pre-amp.

if you have a line in on your computer get one of those adapters so you can plug your portable cd player into your stereo run the red and black wires from your record player to your computer.

convert cassettes to mp3. use something like Audiocity (it's free) or any other recording software. Play cassette into the line in on your computer and record

just get an audio/video capture card...then you can also convert video tapes to DVD...if you have a DVD burner.
