the_reverend said:
[band=jesu]: pronounced yeah-zoo for those of you who didn't know. I personally didn't know. the set was perfect. the sound was perfect (except the vocals being too quiet). and the song selection was pretty good. jesu played mostly newer stuff from what I could tell. there was one song that they kicked into that had that godflesh sound of the earlier stuff. I figured it was an older song. it was perfect. other than that, they were perfectly polite. they only played for 49 minutes too. I was hoping for something longer. [band=isis]: I knew they were going to boot photogs. I had to go in the sea of the masses to shoot. this is where I saw a friend from college and while I was trying to talk to him, I had rich horror spraying me with beer and the remnants of this creature: the only song they played that I like and that was on level with jesu was the second or third song which I believe is off oceanic. it was a heavier song and sounds more like neurosis.
jesu mixed it up pretty well, for a short set. The new tracks they played were Conqueror and Transfigure. They opened with We all Faulter, and also did Friends are Evil off the self titled. Silver was played 3rd I think. They could have used a bit more vocals and the bassists tone wasn't that heavy; other than that, the set kicked ass. ISIS was well...ISIS. As usual; loud, on point, and amazing. Big plus to hear False Light (3rd song of the set) played live again, which was the only Oceanic track. The highlight was obviously the encore, Celestial: The Tower, which hasn't been played around these parts for a number of years. I didn't bother to watch Zozobra, I'd rather just listen to older Old Man Gloom.
