Subject: Last night, my thoughts To: Send an Instant Message abbeyloungebooking@yahoo.com Hey duder, this is Nicholas from The Taste of Silver. Last night, as you may or may not know as of yet, during the show there was some damage found to the dry wall in the backroom. At the end of the night, after Tommy and the sound dude asked around, the person who did it could not be discovered. I, for one, was baffled as I was out in the main floor watching my guitars, merch, and my girlfriend's family that came to see us. Tommy and the other dude (I feel bad, he told me his name and I forgot it) felt that the person who did it needed to come forward. We offered to ask the two bands I asked to get on this show if they knew anything (I did, and they are as baffled as I am) and Alex suggested it might have been even just a person that paid to get into the show that snuck into the backroom when no one was looking. We really have no idea, nor do our friends in the other bands. That aside, it was suggested that all the bands from last night be "blacklisted" and not allowed to play the club again since the one person that did this could not be found. We offered to take responsibility and to fix the damage and then-some (Alex and I do a lot of carpentry and maintenance work together, and I offered to even renovate some parts of the Abbey, too) but this was politely turned down. I have had some time to consider this situation, and I honestly don't think that's fair outcome at all. The sound guy said that he felt that since I got two of the bands to play the show (for some reason One Flesh was dismissed from this situation) that therefore I vouch for the other two bands plus my own. That is true, but not quite accurate. In general, yes I would vouch for my friends that I've know for years as you or anyone else would similarly do. But in this case, it's rather that I will be -responsible- for those other bands, too. My band has a fantastic, unblemished reputation with places we've played as being polite, honest, and extremely mature about all performance and associated matters, and this is no different. I've volunteered to repair these damages and even go one step further to fix other things not even believed to be associated with the show. Clearly our reputation withstands that you can trust us and if anything should, for any reason, not go according to plan, that we will stand behind our convictions and help right any wrongs. In this case, the damage is not expensive nor irreparable, and therefor I can see this being cleared up very easily. It's unfortunate that the person who caused the damage is unable to be located (for the record, I have talked to every single member of Revocation, TTOS, and These Are:, all people i have known for several years and have trusted with some of my most expensive gear, and everyone is clueless), and I would like nothing more than to have some answers for you, but in the end, I have none. The damage could have been caused by anybody, and we're all just lucky it wasn't stolen or corrupted audio equipment, wallets, or anything like that. The show went smoothly and everyone had a great time, and it's difficult to accept the condition of "blacklisting" when there is nothing more I can do than ask around and offer to be the one who fixes the situation. I also assure you that no one was hurt and no customers were affected, so this situation is not something that corrupts the clubs ability to do business nor reputation. Without this situation, it was a very fun and positive show. I apologize that someone amongst the people in the building could do such a thing, and again, I wish I could offer some kind of answer. I'm no Columbo, though, just a dude that wants to play music and help people have a good time. I hope that you can pass this message around to the rest of the staff, and that you can find it in your hearts to understand that none of my friends nor myself meant your club any harm whatsoever, that we were all excited to play this show, and ultimately, we simply want to retain our positive relationship with your club and staff. I appreciate your understanding and your response, Nicholas [/QUOTE]
