I'm starting to hate Monster.com[views:3066][posts:29]__________________________________ [Apr 4,2007 11:08am - SteveOTB ""] I keep getting e-mails from these companies that seem legit but may not be. For instance I posted a thread about American Income Life Insurance not too long ago about them offering me a position in working inhouse doing data processing in the e-mail when really they offered me a position in sales. Then this company called World Voice (formerly USA Voice) sends me an e-mail about their Entertainment and Travel division saying that they saw my resume and that I'd be a good fit. They offered health insurance, starting pay of $30.00 an hour, tuition reembursement, and all kinds of good benefits. So I filled out some minor contact information, e-mail, address, phone, and my name thinking "hey maybe this company sounds legit". I looked at the webpage and it was a website offering news, columns, and all kinds of stuff. I could work from home offering advice in a chat room regarding entertainment, music, and more. They have legit advertisment from movies such as 300 on it so I was convinced. So of course with me being constantly paranoid I decided to google it. I found out that they're this big scam who keep changing their business name, take your e-mail down to sell to spammers and phishers and all kinds of shit and when you do get a job some people don't get paid. They're also being called a risk of identity theft. I received both from Monster.com and I'm starting to think that Monster.com doesn't look into any of these false jobs at all. They should start looking into these a little more. I think I fucked myself. |

Do I sometimes get spam emails? YES. That's what I call those emails you are talking about. They just look generic My point is: apply for a job and wait for a reply. I do think that nowadays hotjobs.com is better. So try them. |

If you're fresh out of college there might not be a lot on Monster for you, but it's always worth checking out. Craigslist is pretty helpful, but the best way to find a job online (I think) is to look at job ops on websites of companies you'd like to work for. That's how I got my job now. And all recruiter jobs are sucker jobs. Just treat them like telemarketers. |
