ConquerTheBaphomet said:
PatMeebles said:
Some douche that I'd never seen on the board before said "we should all go up to the singer dude and punch him in the face." Even if it was just douchebaggery, I'm sick of people making comments of that sort on the internet and then getting butthurt when others want to defend themselves. I'm a firm believer that you should only say on the internet what you're willing to say in person.
People say what they want on the Internet and you shouldn't care. Being a tough guy in person or online doesn't make you a better person.
You're equating backing up what you say on the internet to being a tough-guy. I just call it not being an asshole. It's lame that people demand they don't have to be held accountable to what they say, whether it's online or not. Especially because what Jim did and what was described here was totally different and given a separate context. You're right, people can say what they want online, but people can also stand up for themselves when untrue and overblown caricatures are written online. And before you say "he threatened to beat someone up because of the internet. laaaaaame," just remember that he didn't actually say that. What he said was that if the people on the board kept talking about punching him and he challenged them to actually do it and not hide behind a computer.
