It was my first encounter with Pat Methaney, and Guitar synths. Granted, the chanting pygmies and other weirdness could be a little much, but the writing and arrangements of the album were great. Also, his guitarwork, while subtle, is just plain awesome. I find it funny that for the last year or so, every time I turn on the weather channel they are using this album as the background music for the weather reports. I never really considered this album as background music, but it's subtle enough that it works well in the context. My girlfriend said something about how annoying the music was once. I got so pissed that I went and dug out my old tape and listened to it around the house all day long. She will never mock the Methaney again. |

His playing is incredible, as usual, and the arrangements perfectly highlight her amazing voice. His solo guitar pieces like "Biel" and "Polskie Drogi" are what I would consider classic Metheny, subtle and poignant. |
