I'll buy you a case of beer.

I'm replacing the stock double pickup on my Jackson with EMG85.
It didnt come with Quick Connect since it was a used pickup.
You'll need to add wires to reach through the body.
I have a 9V battery connectors you can use.
I'm just not confident in my soldering skills so I need someone who knows what they;'re doing.

I'm in Peabody, but I can drive to wherever you are if it's not too far.

just email me at alexbarshev@verizon.net.

If you would prefer cash instead of beer, that's fine too.
I think $20-30 will be reasonable.

Thanks.

Or, maybe someone knows a local guitar shop that will do it at a reasonable price, I'm not even gonna bother with the GC.

You'll haveto buy a quick connect wire if it didn't come with one (unless it's an old model, which didn't come with quick connects).

For the price you're willing to spend, pretty much any guitar shop would do it. the going rate is usually 3-5 bucks per solder joint. places will do it for 25 even.

you can buy them off guitarpartsdepot.com (I think) or an EMG retailer for like 5 bucks.

You'll probably need the right pots as well...

And you do realize you wont be able to use your other non-active pickup anymore right?

yea, if you didn't get the pots or input jack with the EMGs also, then you're going to need a volume pot, quick connect, and input jack. That will run you like 15-ish bucks

How, exactly, does this relate to Killswitch Engage? Know your role, jabroni.

I know it's POSSIBLE, I'm just making the point that a general/standard EMG installation will leave his other pickup disconnected...

Yeah I heard that if anything it will make the other pickup very quiet.

I was thinking of just taking it out completely..

I didnt know about the pots, why do they have to be changed?
Otherwise I'll get shocked right?

Thanks everyone...

hey Alex, the other guitarist in my band can do it, he's a tech. He installed EMG's in 4 or 5 of my guitars over the years

There is a way you can still use the passive pickup like said already

using a passive neck pickup with the EMG is dumb, it won't sound good, and is usually noisy.

you need new pots because EMGs produce a different amount of electrical resistance.

EMG's make me sad. I hope no one ever uses them again.

You'll need 25k pots, also a stereo jack unless your jackson already has one. Probably have 250k or 500k pots in your guitar at the moment.

i finally made my 85 work with my 81 the tone knob acts as a killswitch/ master volume for the pickups though i hooked it up so there is no pickup selector and i sorta like it.

The 81 and 85 I have in my Paul make me want to throw it off the balcony. I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever install another one of these pieces of shit in one of my guitars.

every other pickup by dimarzio blows except for the X2n.

X2N, EMG 60, or bareknuckle pickups for the moffuggin win.
