Beneath The Massacre-Love 'em or hate 'em[views:2005][posts:14]____________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 11:11am - immortal13 ""] I happen to love them. What do you all think? I haven't really heard this band mentioned much on this board. |
_____________________________ [Oct 4,2007 11:12am - mOe ""] they were MUCH heavier than I thought they'd be live, although the drummer falls short but thats to be expected |
________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 11:13am - tylerl ""] ive only heard a couple songs but from what ive heard it's kinda showoff-y, super technical for the sake of being super technical, the songs arent that good |
_____________________________ [Oct 4,2007 11:22am - cav ""] yea i actually think they suck live. the guitars dont sound the same at all with only one dude. |
____________________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 1:00pm - MarkFuckingRichards ""] It took me a while to get into them, but I love them now. Seeing them at the Palladium was sort of bittersweet since the sound sucks balls downstairs. At first I was impressed by their ability to play their instruments, but after listening to the new album a handful of times before actually buying it, I realized that they're one of the few bands that can not only play their instruments in very technically proficient ways, they can write a solid song with flow and groove to it. That to me is good musicianship. |

____________________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 1:08pm - MarkFuckingRichards ""] I can agree with having natural drum sounds rather than blatantly triggered drums. Sometimes it's easier for me to overlook that stuff since I don't play drums though, haha. |
___________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 1:16pm - brandon... ""] I liked them alot when i first heard their Ep. I dont like their new cd that much the breakdowns are just kinda lame. If they had more range on the vocals and another guitarist i think they would be better. I also agree on the natural sounding drums the triggers get a bit too much. |

_____________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 1:18pm - hyper_sludge ""] i like the drum sound on the record. makes it sound like a fawkin machine and adds to the feel of album being sterile. |
_________________________________________ [Oct 4,2007 2:19pm - largefreakatzero ""] 5 song demo better than full length. Not crazy about the guitar tone. Some of the faster riffs are interesting, though some of the breakdowns are too metalcorish for my liking. I give them a meh, not bad. |
___________________________________ [Oct 5,2007 12:35pm - ffsmasher ""] seems like they are going for that mechanical sound |
___________________________________________ [Oct 5,2007 5:29pm - ConquerTheBaphomet ""] Solid band. |
______________________________ [Oct 5,2007 5:58pm - Arist ""] I like them a lot, just kills me now that in order to be "tech death" every song has to have extreme tapping all over the place |
____________________________________________ [Oct 6,2007 1:01am - MarkFuckingRichards ""] I personally enjoy their style of "extreme tapping" as you call it. A lot of bands seem to abuse that technique and end up just making noise instead of creating an actual technical arrangement. Beneath The Massacre do it crazy fast so it sounds like a video game, but if you listen close enough you can make out what's going on, though it's mind-boggling. Seeing some of it played live makes it seem not so difficult though. |
