Swedish metal extremists MESHUGGAH have posted a new track, entitled
"Bleed" on their MySpace page. The track is the first preview of the
band's forthcoming sixth full-length, obZen, slated for North American
release on March 11, 2008. Wildly surpassing expectations, the track is
an absolute torrent of aggression, melding the technical precision
you've come to expect from the band, with some of the most taught,
punishing riffs of the quintet's twenty-one year career. See for
yourself now:

Its kind of like a combination of nothing, chaosphere and I. The songs have more that like 2 or 3 riffs in them and they up the brutality factor on this one as well.

personally, i think this track is pretty boring. i don't care if it's MESHUGGAH. i think sometimes people hype things up because of the legacy of certain bands.

i know this sounds crazy, but i swear to you all that "bleed"'s main drum beat that it starts with (polymetric double bass) is exactely the same as the beat in one of ouch's songs. seriuosly, note for note. the same tempo and everything. I mean, i know you cant copyright a beat, but when its something thats so rythmically driven as meshuggah, people are gonna notice the similarity. DAMNIT.. thats what i get for learning how to play so much meshuggah material. (mostly chaosphere stuff)

obZen is sick. Constantly emulated, but never duplicated. Meshuggah doesn't fuck around.

yeah that track Bleed is awesome. and about that comment Ouchdrummer made, that happened to Sacreligion a few times, we'd hear something in a song that sounds exactly like something we wrote, but the parts were things that our guitarist had never heard before and wrote on his own. i guess you can look at it like "great minds think alike".

yeah i figure that because i worshipped him for so long and learned so much of his stuff, that i got my mind thinkin like his.... maybe a little, not to say i am as good as him, but you know what i mean.

I'll say when I first heard it I was expecting to hear something I wouldn't like. I was thrown a curveball on this new album. Not really sure what albums you can compare it to but it is nice to know it's by the same band that used to have really good songs.

I downloaded this as well, definetly going back to a more brutal approach. It reminds me of none as far as production, with the aggression level stepped up and not as prone to droning riffs as none was. Also has anyone noticed that the drummer is landing his snare hits on more 2s and 4s, rather than all over the place ( see chaosphere) making the riffs much heavier and groovier (did I just say groovier lol)
