______________________________________ [Oct 27,2002 9:18am - the_reverend ""] no, they didn't get rid of their bass player. the last one just left. I'm guessing they got a new one. Or have one just for touring. like eben, bassist for hire. |
_____________________________________ [Oct 27,2002 9:47am - RustedAngel ""] no thats the same bass player they've had |
_______________________________________ [Oct 27,2002 10:42am - the_reverend ""] Peter Nordin? I thought they issued a press release not too long ago saying the bass player (thought his name was Guther) left the band. |
________________________________ [Oct 27,2002 11:14am - derk ""] yeah i remeber hearing that they got rid of him cuz do to 8 strings, they didnt need him anymore. i dunno. ask rob wolfe, he is in meshuggah derek |
______________________________________ [Oct 27,2002 12:44pm - RustedAngel ""] all 3 videos i have of them playing in 1998 and 1999 have the same guy in the pictures. |
____________________________________ [Oct 28,2002 1:59am - masticated ""] The bassist they are still using is Gustaf Hielm. He was supossed to leave the band a while ago but is sticking around for touring. Meshuggah is going to look for a new bassist once touring is over or when they have the time to go through auditions. Peter Nordin left before chaosphere so he has been out of the band for a while. |
_________________________________________ [Oct 28,2002 1:39pm - AllanHoldsworth ""] Yeah. Peter Nordin was the old bassist. He was forced to quit the band in the middle of their touring for Destroy Erase. He got a weird ear sickness where he would get dizzy at random moments and couldn't hear well. Then they found Gustaf, who wasn't really a metal guy, but he's talented so it worked out for a while. News came up that Gustaf was leaving, but that was close to 2 years ago. He still plays all the shows with the band. They're going to have to either keep him or find a new guy, because even though both guitarists play 8 strings (the new songs would sound fine without bass), there is bass guitar on 'Nothing'. Plus they still play a lot of old songs live that just wouldn't work without bass. |
_____________________________________ [Oct 28,2002 4:05pm - RustedAngel ""] wierd, but i don't understand why they'd trash a good bass player even if they are playing 8 stringers. sure they might have the extra low string, but it still doesn't have the 'thunder' of a bass guitar. have fun at meshuggah tonight rob. wish i could go ;/ :satancross: |
