... so Architect plays Cherry St. last night. (The Network was supposed to but didn't make it.) As some of you may know, I live about three fucking minutes from the place. Now, I'm not the be-all-end-all of CT show knowledge and shit... but you'd think I'd fucking know if something sweet was happening in my back yard, y'know? And it's not like two of my friends don't run the best fucking record shop in the state... y'know... a place where it might make sense to drop off some flyers... let people know that your fucking show is happening... y'know... or maybe the fucking locals playing the show could have... oh, i dunno... not kept it their special little secret? I'd say "myspace / message board posts don't fucking cut it" but... yeah... didn't see any of that either. As an asshole who books shows (albeit, infrequently), it THOROUGHLY got my ass out that the motherfucker I'll assume to be the motherfucker responsible for this shindig (I ain't callin motherfucker a "promoter" 'cause he sure as fuck didn't promote shit) charges me EIGHT FUCKING DOLLARS for the worst-attended show I've ever seen at the place. Now, call me kooky, but if motherfucker DID HIS FUCKING JOB, maybe he would have had... oh, i dunno... ten more fucking people at his show and maybe could have charged a more reasonable FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS for one signed band and a couple locals whose friends ostensibly couldn't even be bothered to go see? So I'm fuckin' crotchety right... and I go up to the Architect dudes (who played a great show to... oh, I dunno... ten people TOPS - yes, this is including the bartender, Dennis the owner, his girlfriend and myself) and ask them if they got paid (hope they did... because as of then, they didn't), because I was tempted to go up to the door guy and demand four fucking dollars back seeing as A) motherfucker didn't do his "job" and B) The Network weren't playing. The Architect guys said something about the promoter living two hours away from Cherry St. Seriously... WHY FUCKING BOTHER??? FUCK, I can't wait to start taking steroids and get all hoss and surly then go on tour and smash douchebag promoters and shit locals who don't understand why my gas tank is not sympathetic with their failure to promote. the moral of the story... DON'T BOOK A FUCKING SHOW YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BOTHER TO PROMOTE. and as far as bands go - if you're too cool to promote, you don't fucking deserve to play. sell your gear, your CDs and buy a fishtank, you fucking turd.
