Technical Difficulties[views:5799][posts:27]________________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 9:38pm - KitchenIncident ""] So I have this laptop for school. Whenever I burn a CD on it, with either iTunes or Roxio, it stops in the middle and says "Nope, ur doin it rong." It tells me there was a problem burning it. Every time I burn something. Any suggestions, folks? |

________________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 9:46pm - KitchenIncident ""] I've been texting him about it. He's occupied at the moment, however. Patience is a virtue, I'm told. I have none. |
________________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 9:46pm - KitchenIncident ""] Clearly. |
_________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 9:54pm - archaeon ""] patience, you don't has it. it's a pretty vague description as well. |
_________________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:02pm - KitchenIncident ""] What it says above is what it tells me. I put in a blank CD. Create a list of tracks to burn. Hit Burn. It goes pretty consistently for half of the CD then it stops, spits the CD out, and says there was a problem with the project. |
__________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:03pm - archaeon ""] did you try restarting? also try burning a different playlist |
_________________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:04pm - KitchenIncident ""] Yes. This has been an on-going problem. The drive was replaced back in December or January and continues to do the same thing. |
__________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:07pm - archaeon ""] show it your tits, that always does the trick. |
___________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:08pm - narkybark ""] it sounds like you don't have enough virtual memory to store what you're trying to burn; it can't keep up with the burn rate. Have you tried lowering the burn speed? |
______________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:08pm - the_reverend ""] weird, I doubted msd would let you out of the crib |
__________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:12pm - dertoxia ""] have you tried using different media? |
______________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:16pm - the_reverend ""] delete your... |
__________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:18pm - archaeon ""] lol32 folder |
_________________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:18pm - KitchenIncident ""] Yep |
_________________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:19pm - KitchenIncident ""] Very nice. |
__________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:27pm - dertoxia ""] you need to narrow down whether it's a bad drive issue, buffering issue or software issue. Try to burn just a single track and see if it still fails at the same spot. |
______________________________________ [Aug 5,2008 10:29pm - the_reverend ""] it usually comes down to 2 things 1) bad drive 2) bad media or media that doesn't work well with the burner. |

__________________________________________ [Aug 12,2008 8:34am - largefreakatzero ""] Turn off the FAIL button. |
_________________________________________ [Aug 12,2008 8:35am - KitchenIncident ""] I think that is a feature that is exclusive to Macs. |
_____________________________________ [Aug 12,2008 8:39am - ouchdrummer ""] no PCs have a fail button too, you just need a startup disk to get to them. |
_________________________________________ [Aug 12,2008 8:40am - KitchenIncident ""] Bitchin'. |
_________________________________________ [Aug 12,2008 8:55am - Conservationist ""] Most PCs are set up by people who don't know what they're doing and don't take the time to crack a book. This post is kind of useless because you've left out ALL of the important information: Computer type Operating System Drive type and Model # Exact Error Message If you called tech support like this, they'd be like, "Nilla, plz." I'd install InfraRecorder -- free open source software -- and see what message it gives you. Preliminarily, I'd say that the people suggesting you have bad media are probably right. |
_________________________________________ [Aug 12,2008 7:15pm - KitchenIncident ""] Probably but haven't tried anything else yet, due to my lack of any other media. I said "Fuck it," and opened file sharing in the computers here and just burned them with my father's PC. Crafty. |
