Summoning[views:9624][posts:28]_______________________________________ [Aug 14,2008 8:39am - y_ddraig_goch ""] I've had all their cds since i saw them at newb's. I love this band, the drum machine just adds to the aura of awesome epicness. Are there any bands similar to this, i mean not just talking symphonic, just style. kind of like a martial sounds with chants in there. |
_______________________________ [Aug 14,2008 8:41am - aril ""] funny, I was just falling asleep to oath bound last night. good band |
__________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 1:55pm - darkwor ""] takes me to epic far away places. [img] |
_________________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 1:56pm - Conservationist ""] Skepticism. Mirrorthrone is a similar style. First album Enslaved Oh, and GRAVELAND |
______________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 2:00pm - goatcatalyst ""] Great band, grandiose atmosphere. But may I propose a moratorium on the word "epic"? It has become to black metal what "brutal" is to death metal and "I love you" is to a woman. Hollow semantics. |
____________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 2:07pm - arilliusbm ""] check out the band Enid. Well, their earlier stuff at least. |
_________________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 2:08pm - Conservationist ""] Primordial? Goat: remarkably bitter and often correct, but not with the good women, in my experience. The hos are always gonna be hos. People would do better to be less ironic, so they could actually express subtle emotional truths without being mocked. |
__________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 2:14pm - darkwor ""] epic, where i can let myself be consumed by the sound, connect to my wandering spirit, escape to a point in time and space where i become omniscient and watch history unfold before my eyes, containing a reflection of a place almost too awe-inspiring to imagine. because what is on the cover of Oath Bound isn't a mountain, it's a feeling, for lack of a better word. and dude, it's fucking brootal. |
______________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 2:31pm - Phrozenspite ""] there are other symphonic black metal bands in the same vein as summoning but nobody comes close to them... the closest thing would be Graveland, Falkenbach or well Hollenthon and those are all still miles away. The thing with summoning is they have a huge martial/ambient influence which most metal bands don't have(and i don't mean that fake black ambient shit that all of the LLN bands make) |
___________________________________________ [Nov 10,2008 3:01pm - mikeofdecrepitude ""] Nothing but good things to say about Summoning. "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" can't be beat. Just recently got the "Sounds from Middle-Earth" picture disc set. |

___________________________________________ [Jun 24,2009 8:06am - MikeofDecrepitude ""] Summoning should have a new ep coming out soon. Can't wait. |
______________________________________ [Jun 24,2009 8:52am - the_reverend ""] excellent band. sleeping to them would rule. |

____________________________________ [Jan 19,2011 11:29am - Slag NLI ""] Dol Guldur rules. "Nightshade Forests" is quite the epic. |
__________________________________________ [Jan 19,2011 11:39am - ancient master ""] I have them all, but im partial to minas morgul. Morthond and the passing of the grey company rule. other tracks that rule off different albums are like some snow white marble eyes, long lost to where no pathway goes, rotting horse on the deadly ground, mirkwood, runes of power, and upon the viking stallion. I also have an album of unreleased keyboard tracks of summoning, very interesting indeed. If anyone wants I can upload it. |

__________________________________________ [Jan 19,2011 12:26pm - ancient master ""] also check out Abigor if you havent already, Silenius is on the earlier albums until channeling the quintesscence of satan. Id suggest supreme immortal art, it has some simalar elements of summoning. |
_________________________________________ [Jan 19,2011 12:29pm - AndrewBastard ""] some Abigor is totally different though |

__________________________________________ [Jan 19,2011 11:05pm - TheRidersofDoom ""] Far far away, beyond the might of day! "land of the dead" Easily the best song in ambient bm in a long time |

______________________________________________ [Jan 20,2011 10:12pm - Woah!_Shut_It_Down! ""] Xasthur's Defective Epitaph album isn't really epic but you'll start imagining crazy shit with your eyes closed. Also, kind of a cop-out but can't go wrong with Wolves In The Throne Room. They'll make you think they're not from Forks or something. |
____________________________________ [Jan 20,2011 10:26pm - narkybark ""] metal about LOTR or GTFO |
______________________________________ [Jan 21,2011 1:18am - swamplorddvm ""] Svuth Aman and Land of the dead. Amazing songs. Though the first few times I heard Land of the dead it didn't do much for me. For some reason one day it just blew me away. The passing of the grey company is also another great one. I'm glad to see a thread about Summoning lived past 5 replies on this site. |
