Bar promoter dreamers unapreesh[views:7924][posts:19]___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 2:16pm - woodward ""] Ok, you asked us to drive close to 2 hours to play a show for you. We were there exactly when asked to be, On a Wednesday night, playing for free, you are totally rude about one of us being under 21. Maybe you should have mentioned "NO ONE UNDER 21 IN BANDS ALLOWED" If that's how you felt. What type of bands do you expect to drive out and play for free on a Wednesday, where everyone in the band is 21+??? Answer, the other bands that played last night. Attempting tool covers and shit. We were the only band playing original stuff. Moral... If you're a promoter for a shitty bar, don't ask bands to go out of their way and play a free show for you, then totally disrespect us, and expect legit bands to come and play for free on a Wednesday. lols:pukeface: |

Fuckin put an "X" on the youngen's hand and have him leave after the set if it is that big of a deal. We've been through that... an X and a see you later after the set is always how it has gone. |
___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 2:22pm - woodward ""] haha, sorta. We tore shit up and waited for them to turn off the PA. so it was kinda worth it, but still a waste of time. |
___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 2:29pm - woodward ""] he decided to schedule us for 3rd, and I wasn't going to wait outside... He also had booked us for 3 Wednesdays. I guess we're just gonna have to wait to play the bar scene. OH NO! |
_____________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 2:43pm - ouchdrummer ""] i hate to say it, but if your <21 and your playing in a 21+ venue, you should ask about their policy before you show up. I've heard of bars getting big fines for letting someone under 21 inside, even just to play a set. |
______________________________ [Jan 15,2009 3:22pm - Yeti ""] let me guess, this took place at a Wormtown Wednesday. |

As you can tell, even if they don't have that base covered before hand, you will have addressed it and possibly save yourself some agrivation and wasted time. You already checked ahead of time to find out when load in is, and also check and see if the PA is taken care of. I've had the pleasure of showing up to a show and no one brought a PA because everyone thought there was a house PA. Also, welcome to playing live as an original metal band. :shocker: |

___________________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 3:41pm - FuckIsMySignature ""] ya wormtown weds was my first thought too. |
___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 4:00pm - woodward ""] good call. it would have been easier to check in the first place. Now we know right? |
___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 4:11pm - Blue nli ""] This is why i dont like the lucky dog. They have no clue what theyre doing and have no interest in having someone do it right for them. |
___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 4:12pm - woodward ""] Oh, i'm not trying to bash the place, so i'm not gonna name names. wasn't really the point. Am I wrong to think that it's not very likely that many decent bands, with all21+ members would be willing to play like that? it just seems kinda far-fetched. |
__________________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 4:15pm - largefreakatzero ""] FIGHT THE ENTIRE BAR OR YOU ARE A PUSSY. |

It's not far fetched at all. If you expect to get anywhere playing original metal, you will have to deal with far far worse than this. Try DIY touring. Pay your dues and stop whining. Sorry if I come off like a dick, but someone's gotta tell you. |
___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 5:16pm - woodward ""] I appreciate your input. I do totally agree with you. When we tell someone we're going to sell x amount of tickets, we make it happen. we're very dedicated. I didn't really mean to come off as whining, but I was kinda frustrated. It's good to hear other people's input. |
___________________________________ [Jan 15,2009 5:18pm - woodward ""] oh, there were like, 4 people in the bar plus bands, so I might have been able to fight them all. PS, we look like this <img src= http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b57/tony39393939/blackmetal.jpg> |

It's good to hear other people's input. Good luck with your band dude. And I don't know how long you've been doing this for, but my advice after playing countless shows in an original band is to try not to let shit like this get to you. It will continue to happen. So many people will continue to be fucking dinks, including but not limited to show promoters. Although show promoters can be a particularly shitty breed. Welcome to metal, where you get: [img] |
