[radio]Sirius "Mandatory Metallica" Week[views:2896][posts:16]__________________________________________ [Mar 20,2009 8:33am - largefreakatzero ""] Makes me want to cancel my subscription immediately. Yes, yes, they have been playing some good older stuff, but there's so much shit mixed in there that it's not even worth it. Plus a week straight of any band is stupid. This gay marketing scheme is a prime example of why Sirius/XM is struggling with money issues. |

__________________________________ [Mar 20,2009 9:13am - rotivore ""] what are the odds that next week will be "mandatory goregrind"? |
__________________________________________ [Mar 20,2009 9:26am - largefreakatzero ""] That's doubtful, taking into account they had a Lamb of God week not too long ago. Thankfully they did not play ALL Lamb of Gay, but there was enough of it to make me want to shoot down their satellites. |
___________________________________ [Mar 20,2009 9:33am - dreadkill ""] they should only play old metallica, with numerous live versions of whiplash, featuring james hetfield going "IT'S FUCKIN HWHIPLAYSH-AH!" |

___________________________________ [Mar 20,2009 10:33am - rotivore ""] The keyword in XM/Sirius radio is "radio". They are gonna play the record selling metal bands than not obviously. That is why I rarely use it even though I have it. I got a year subscription for free but then renewed before the merger which killed any quality it once possessed. The hosts are terrible now....esp Jose. I used to be able to call in requests and actually got on the air a few times. One time I called in while that band "architects" were on in studio and I told them that GG Allin is twice the talent they are and that they should cut themselves on stage to sell records. The rarely play an cool obscure grind or death metal anymore. I believe the radio show that Jason from misery index used to host is gone which naturally he put on good and obscure grind and death metal. Fungus is gone which used to play some decent hardcore punk once and awhile. The only thing thats halfway good is that "heavy metal history lesson show" The host is kind of a needledick but they had hour long shows dedicated to norwegian black metal, NWOBHM, Dismember...ect. All in all the merger is fail and I wont renew. It did however expose me to Rigor Mortis (figuratively not literaly) whom I never heard before...(bodily dismemberment). Also few other good bands. |

Back'd. I would love to kill Jose with my bare hands. The "Bloody Roots" show can be pretty cool depending on the topic -- Ian Christe is kind of a tool, but he is the best they have. Most of the playlist is shit, but you're right, once in awhile they do play some cool and obscure shit. My m.o. when listening to Sirius is to have a CD going in the truck and have the Sirius display on -- when something good comes up on the display, I switch over to satellite. |

This gay marketing scheme is a prime example of why Sirius/XM is struggling with money issues. the only musician (i can think of) that dedicating a whole week to would make sense is Frank Zappa (since i'm pretty sure it would take damn near a week just to play all of his albums - live stuff included, 79 albums, at least three of which are 3 discs - from the very first to the very last) |
