I am interested in hearing someone description of what "fastcore" actually is. To me, it's a redundant label, because it just sounds like you're trying to say Grindcore. That's like me saying I'm going to rip off old Darkthrone, image, sound, and all. Only we're not Black Metal, we're "Evil Metal". "Look! The emperor has new clothes!"
Fastcore basically takes the early 80s sound and takes the speed to the next level, I guess you could say it's almost at a blasting pace but since it has no metal influence whatsoever, it's not grind. It differs from powerviolence just because fastcore is a more straight forward sound while powerviolence has a lot of time/tempo changes, etc. And subgenres aren't stupid either. If a band is doing something truly different and new, why put it in the same category? Music evolves in all directions and not only are you undermining creative bands by putting them in the same old groups, but not believing in genres is like having no standards, why do you think people call shit like Korn metal?
