Ondskapt, Ofermod, and Watain all have reputations in Europe for total arrogance to both their promoters and fans - and in the former cases, coupled with under-rehearsed "epic fail" performances. There's some of this with Watain, too. I was at their first U.S. show (Minneapolis MN, w/Nachtmystium before Angel Corpse jumped on the tour). As default headliner, they played for 20 or so minutes and then ditched the stage because the crowd was too small (circa 25 people tops). It's this attitude that produces a "black metal will be reborn...when we release a pop Bathory-worship album"-attitude. And yes, it sells. Same as what happened with Von, really... Dodsengel "Mirium Occultum" wastes every bm release thus far this year. I'll be amazed (and very pleased) if anything tops it. |
