Someone wrote in "finger amputation dickisbro" on Spence's medical chart... seems odd but oh well.

It was a success.

So. Much. Pain.

I'm home now but i'm on nine different prescriptions. My teeth are wired shut(no, I can still talk, only wired with elastics) for three weeks. I'm on a all liquid diet(so water, medicine, gatorade, smoothies) and can not lift anything up more than 10-15 pounds for six or seven weeks.

Basically what they did in the nine hour surgery was break and realign both my jaw plates completely while running tubes down my throat, down my nose, into my arms as well as giving me a catheter. They also had locked my legs into some cast-type thing for the first two days so I wouldn't get any bloodclots, not sure about the specifics about this though.

Apparently in my surgery they had failed to drain even part of the blood out of my stomach, and so within the first fifteen or so hours of the surgery ending I was vomiting blood. Pretty sure I had heard a doctor say at one point that I had swallowed six pints of blood, or something like that. (pain drugs, the remaining anesthesia and the extreme pain together makes my memory of the first three days a bit fuzzy)

My face is, or was anyway(it's calmed a bit) swollen about five times it's normal size and my throat is majorly swollen as well.

That's all that really comes to mind. Any questions?

Six pints of whose blood now?

My own? I'll post a pic or two later on, but they had to cut into my cheeks, break my jaws and stick tubes down my nose/throat. Obviously there's quite a lot of blood to be had there.

Normally they're able to pump most of said blood out but, for whatever reason, they weren't able to at the end of my surgery.

Though an opiate high is quite pleasant, I find it more pleasant to never have to push/strain on the shitter.

In all seriousness, surgery sucks and having my wisdom teeth out was probably a worse experience than having my appendix removed. So buck up, Spence. And read the Chiodos thread. All of it. And when I see you at some all-ages bathhouse of a show, I will administer an oral exam in the old fashion.

Haha thanks guys.

Speaking of shitting, I had the foresight to force myself to empty out myself as MUCH as I possibly could before the surgery. And good thing too, before my liquid-and-rabbit-ball diarrhea this morning, I hadn't shat since the surgery.

TMI? Perhaps. Also, will check out the Chiodos thread. Sounds like a laugh.

Oh, I had a massive overbite. It's not TOO noticeable in pictures or in person, but whenever I eat I have to do 100% of the chewing on my end molars on either side since they're the only teeth in my mouth that even come close to touching when I bite. (Yes, I have braces. No, braces will not correct that. The braces I have now are just so when they did the surgery that they could break both my jaws without my teeth flying everywhere, so the braces are just a glorified holder or something. Also, since my jawplates are now totally moved, the braces are necessary for correcting my teeth post-surgery)

So basically, with the surgery, i'll be able to bite/chew/whatever correctly. And, in the longterm, if it didn't get corrected I would have had to deal with major dental and facial appearance issues by the time I was in my 30's. Also, they said that people who don't get major openbites like this corrected tend to begin getting severe and frequent headaches over time as well.

So it was just one big preventive surgery, I guess.

Reminds me of that time the Lisa needed braces and they showed her a picture of what she'd look like when she's older.
