We got bumped off a show there a few years ago... for being from Boston. Apparently there was a moratorium on booking Boston bands at the time(!??). Plus there's the no covers rule. Has anyone in the history of live music ever actually been fined for a band playing a cover without a license? How does that even work?
AS220 aims to support original music. No music licensed by ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC is allowed, unless you are the license holder. This means that all material performed at AS220 must be your original creation or must be in the public domain. Please see our definition of original work if you need further clarification. The FAQ for performers at AS220 also contains info about our original work policy and how it might affect your performance. If you are not from Rhode Island, there are opportunities to share the evening’s bill with local musicians. If you are an out of state performer interested in playing on our stage, we recommend that you contact Rhode Island performers whom you have a relationship with about sharing a bill and ask them to submit a booking request to AS220. You might also try other venues in Providence that host events such as Roots Café, Lupo’s, Firehouse 13, Fête, etc. Copy pasta from the as220 website. Sean was drunk and threw a trash can and trash at the sound guy after having their set cut short. Their 2 month ban is semi warranted.
