Technically its part of norway, half way between norways main land mass and the north pole. They have the BEST god damn rule regarding immigration. Not that i think it would work with anywhere having a population of more than 5000, but alas: The government of Svalbard can, at any time, kick you off the islands if you show that you cannot support yourself, or if you are to much of a burden on the government. Great rule, although they do let almost anyone TRY to live there if they want to. You have to get a visa just like to most countries, but there is a coalition of something like 20countries that technically own the right to live there/mine coal there. (coal is svalbards main export.) |
