i think tom will have a lot to say about his powerball.

ive never heard another model up close besides the powerball, but i can say that it is a very tight sounding amp, with a fluid cascading gain that isn't fuzzy or undefined. fantastic clean channel as well.

the powerball pwnz. I love the sound of Engl's in general, for example:

Tom - Porphyria
Evergrey
Necrophagist

they're all Engl users, and all have killer sound. if I could afford one, I'd get one :newhorns:

Engls are great, but my personal opinion from having heard it live is that the Bogner Uberschall and the VHT Pittbull are better amps. Then again I'm not a guitar player, but I do know what I hear.

First off, if you want to hear distinctive differences between ENGL models just go to http://www.rocksolidamps.com/ and there are sound clips of each.

There are plenty of bands especially euro bands that have been using ENGL amps for recordings for a while, as Mark mentioned necrophagist, and evergrey. Also another band that uses them are Primal Fear and their tone is ridiculously awesome. Darkane has used the Savage 120. The great thing about them is you don't really have to put anything through the front or loop to improve the sound. They are also great bedroom amps as well because you don't have to crank them to sound good like most other amps.

We used my ENGL -> VHT cab for the porphyria recording which you may or may not have heard and for only having a day to record guitars it came out pretty well.

As far as comparing VHT/Bogner/ENGL it's really just a matter of opinion. I just know that more people with recognizable tone are using ENGL and not so much bogner/vht. VHT's are like a mean marshall so if that sound works for you, awesome. I actually wouldn't mind having the VHT ultralead with the EQ.

The Cab makes a big difference with ENGL. I've tried Mesa/GenzBenz/Vader/Carvin cabs and I still prefer VHT cabs. You can't really go wrong with marshall 1960's either.

OK, the reason I made this thread is because I am now an Engl Dealer and I wanted to see what the local intrest is. I can definitly hook it up on the prices too. I can't advertise anything but if you need any prices get in touch with me.

Blue, 5150's are sick amps. If you do the clarity mod, bias mod, and clean the pots with a fresh retube the distorted channel ound flat out amazing. Clean channel... When you do the bias mod it gets a lot warmer, but there is still a decent amount to desire out of a clean amp.

for the very distant future, ENGL is one of my top options for next amp.

I have no money right now...but a full-time job (hopefully) out of college might bring me a little closer

So far I have played 3 Engl products. The Savage, Powerball, and the E570 SE pre amp. I am absolutely blown away with all 3 of them. The sounds I got out of them with very very limited tweaking was nuts.

Despite what some say I think the savage is a more heavy amp than the powerball (but then again I do need to play them all more before I pass judgement) *after 20 minute nose bleed??* I forgot where I was going with this. With the limited time I played both of these amps I was truely suprised, and they sounded a lot better than I anticipated.

Now that pre amp... I am still trying to pick up my jaw. I got literally any sound I could dream of out of it. The thing I was blown away by was all the midi settings and functions. It has a full midi processor and it does all the things the top of the line Line 6 amps do. While that is fine and dandy and can get you decent tone here is real kicker. That shit has real tubes in it. Real tubes = real sound, not emulated like all these other digital amps. I think it is an amazing idea and the sound was just unreal. It has all kinds of banks to store your settings and so many functions I got a little lost...but thats a good thing if you ask me. Shows you are not limited. I do however need to get better at using it, and I want to play it with the midi fottswitch and see if thats difficult or user friendly. I really need to play it through an Engl Midi/tube power amp. I was playing through a QSC solid state power amp and was still amazed. If the sound can get any better I am 100% sure thi will end up in my personal rig....regardless of the price.

I can't wait to get some amps in and give them a shot and see how they sound. I also want to try some of thier lower end gear too and see if it still cranks out the sound of the higher end stuff. I am really interested in thier combo amps. I want to see what them can do. Have any of you guys played the Engl combo's yet?

I'll keep giving more feed back on more of the gear as it comes in and let you guys know what I think. So far I am giving the 3 products I have played a big thumbs up.

My family owns business zoned buildings. I am opening my own music store, and Engl is the official first line of amps I will be carrying. For now I am going to be doing a lot of online sales until I can get the store aspect of it all set. I will also be working on more dealer buy in's so I can stock a wider selection than Engl, but you have to start somewhere.

Aw man, that's fucking awesome. I'd kill for an ENGL...if I had that kind of money.

Not that I don't love my Mark IV...I'm just a gear junkie. Without the money to supplement my addiction.

Thanks for wishing me luck, I am going to need it. I have been studying business (on my personal time) for the last 4 or so years. I really hope it all goes well. I know I am willing to bust my ass to make it work.
